A Fight to Protect Traditional Lands in Grassy Narrows

By Lost Bear Looking
(lostbearlooking@yahoo.com)

Well into the sixth month of a bolckade, to stop the clear-cutting of their traditional lands, the Anishnabek of Asubpeeschoseewagong(the Ojibway name for Grassy Narrows) and supporters are holding their ground. Under a almost complete mida blackout the blockade at Grassy Narrows, located about 50 miles north of Kenora, Ontario, has held off logging trucks in an effort to protect some 2,500 square miles of traditional land. And that is about all i have on this situation at this time. I am however making a trip to grassy narrows in about two weeks and will write a more detailed piece upon my return. To get more information on your own or for donations ( my understanding is that items needed are; sage, medicines, tobacco, food, and cloth for sacred prayers (in the colors of red, blue, green, white, black, yellow, and brown) you can contact Judeth Dasilva at friends_of_grassynarrows@yahoogroups.ca or jsilva@voyageur.ca

UK or Bust!

By: Angie Mengwasser

So, the first two weeks of my summer have been beyond spectacular. By the looks of the title I?m sure you have figured out by now that I went to England, Scotland, and Wales. If ever there was a more spectacular, beautiful, perfect place to visit than the UK, I would deny its existence. I would write about my trip here, but It would take pages upon pages to describe everything. Instead, I will leave what you hear up to the readers. Send a letter to the editors and let us know what you would like to hear about first.

The Flight and Ilkley/Leeds

Edinburgh (my favorite)

Wales (Including Swansea and Exeter)

Bath (Including Stonehenge, Avebury Circles, Castle Combe, and Lacock.)

Brighton

Or London
